In 1957, Arne Jacobsen developed a desk lamp for the Louis Poulsen lighting brand. An exquisite designer lamp in the shape of a funnel, made of steel and zinc: the AJ Table. The AJ was specially designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, an impressive building also designed by Jacobsen. However, that does not mean that this light only fits in a hotel decor. It also looks very beautiful in homes, offices and restaurants.
The AJ Table has a fairly simple design but with carefully thought-out details. This elegant desk lamp has a lampshade that can be rotated to optimise the light distribution. The AJ Table has been around for six decades, yet it is still very popular. This is because it was a particularly futuristic design for its time. Designer Arne Jacobsen, who designs buildings and furniture as well as lighting, is generally known for his sleek and ultra-modern style.
The inside of the AJ Table lampshade is painted white in order to create a soft, comfortable light. The exterior of the fixture is available in many different colours: dark green, dark grey, white, black, midnight blue, ochre yellow, petroleum, rust red, light grey, and aubergine. You can find a suitable version for every interior.
